Have you ever wondered if there’s more to life?
That the Universe must have more in store for you than working the typical 9-5? Well, that was me back in 2015 while I worked 40 hours per week, while I studied full time at University and let other people raise my kids. From the outside, my life looked pretty great. I was working, studying a double Bachelor of Business & Law, I had it all planned out and I was succeeding, bought a block of land, built our first house, nice car, but I was miserable. I wanted to be more and do more for my family than just average and constantly be away from them. I was looking for a way to make more money while working fewer hours, but I knew that was just a fantasy. At least that’s what everyone was telling me.
In the Winter of 2015, I started questioning if my business degree and career could sustain me and my family long term, how I wanted to live. I was so tired of working the 10-hour grind and never coming out ahead. I felt like I gave my best to my job & study and the leftovers to my family and for me, that was just not acceptable. So I started looking into work from home jobs and that’s when I discovered the opportunity with network marketing. You see, no one had ever really explained to me the crazy opportunity this was! As soon as I saw the potential, I was hooked. Build, build is what I did and I was having massive success! I was HOOKED!
Nominations for prestigious company awards, leadership trips, I had the opportunity to earn a few international and national trips that allowed my husband and I to go to Disneyland, Anaheim, San Diego, Sedona, Arizona, The Grand Canyon, and Sydney, Australia...... It was about this time when I started earning all kinds of awesome perks that I really realized what residual income was and what it could do for my family. Time freedom was now a reality and so was the possibility to earn annual vacations. Sign me up Scotty! It lasted 3.5 years of amazing success, but from around the middle of 2018 to the start of 2020 things weren't right, things didn't gel anymore and I lost my passion. When your team isn't winning anymore it's no fun. There's nothing that lights me up more than happy and financially secure families, families of choice. So as I started fading away too, so did my income, don't get me wrong I was still earning quite a nice sum each week, but not enough. So in March 2019, I got a casual job to pay for a family Cruise to New Caledonia, to see my two daughters dance on an international stage on a Carnival cruise ship. Quickly I realised, why I loved working from home and network marketing. As a mum of four, I love nothing more than being there for my cherubs whenever they need.
In February 2020 I see some industry leaders, influencers leave my company and it got me thinking, was I getting paid my worth? I was getting paid yes, getting paid way more than others but my team was falling away, not making enough to stay, they were giving up, they were sick and tired of the in-home parties, the presentations, the travel, the never-ending events, all costing them $.....so it got me thinking, what if there was an easier way. What if there was a way ordinary people could win, ordinary mums like me could be at home with their kids, not miss sports carnivals, to be able to afford a family holiday? So I gave it my due diligence and looked into a new business, a new way of doing business. Social Retail..... And I committed, leaving my income behind...I dove right in.
I started my second business aka side hustle halfway through February 2020, just as the world had a Global Pandemic and to be honest, I was a little scared it wouldn't work, people had lost jobs, the world was in absolute shock, and in a complete disaster, but I decided I was going to commit. I needed more, I needed the fire back in my belly, I needed to see my team win! I turned in my resignation letter as a. I had built a six-figure income in less than 1 year just from my network marketing business. For an entire year, I got to take my kids to school and pick them up. I was able to attend every school and sporting event. I never missed a single practice, game, or midday school program. I even got to volunteer at their school and help with day trips. I was truly living life by design. All because I took a chance on myself, but not for myself. I did it for them! Being a present mom and wife was what my family deserved. And this was only the beginning of my entrepreneurial journey.
